How to Plant and Harvest Thai Basil Seeds

How to Plant and Harvest Thai Basil Seeds

August 30, 2018

I love learning new things from my little gardening journey. This week I had the pleasure to harvest my Thai Basil seeds for the first time. I didn't realize how much seeds my little plant had..I don't need to buy anymore seeds again! You might be wondering..what is the process of harvesting like? How do you find the seeds? Well, you can watch the video to find out.

So how do you plant these seeds? It's really easy! This was one of the first herb I planted when I was just starting out. If a newbie like me could do it, so can you.

What Do You Need?

1. Tiny Pots or Coir Pots or even an Egg Shell to plant your seedling.

2. Peat Moss.

3. Your Seeds.

4. Water.

Directions:

1. Since you're just starting out, I would advise to plant two to three small pots first. Fill it up with slightly damp peat moss.

2. Now it's time to put your seeds. Sprinkle two to three Thai Basil seeds in one pot. Don't put too much, because it will be too crowded once they've grown big (trust me, it was one of my first gardening mistake). Sprinkle some more peat moss on the seeds to give them some coverage.

3. Water them until they start to grow and show their 'true leaves' (which is their second set of leaves).

4. Once they start to have four to five sets of leaves, transfer them to a bigger pot with more soil and compost where they have more space and nutrients to grow. Place them somewhere where they can get some sun in the mornings and the evenings.
