Right Tooth (left) ; Left Tooth (right)
Last December, during my one month holiday after internship, I noticed that one of my wisdom tooth's growth caused an ulcer in my cheek. I didn't think much of it, I was pretty sure that it was growing normally with no complications, the ulcer was probably just me accidentally biting my cheek or something. But I told my dad and we went to a dentist. We tried out the new dentist in Inanam Taipan. To my horror, the dentist told me that two of my upper wisdom teeth wasn't growing as normally as I thought! Due to my genes (small jaw runs in the family), my teeth grew diagonally, and the dentist told me I had to have surgery to take the teeth out. But I had to wait till my ulcer clears and it was almost time for me to go back to Bandar Utama for my last Semester so I had to come back during Chinese New Year to get a second opinion.
Fast forward to Valentines Day, my dad brought me to another dentist in Luyang..Oh the horror! When I thought things could not get any worse..it did. The dentist gave me an X-ray and the tooth fairy decided to bless me with not two..but four fully grown wisdom tooth, two of which grew underneath my gums and weren't even visible nor could I even feel them! What in the world?? It did not grow vertically as all my other teeth but as you can see in the first photo, it grew horizontally.
So in the end we decided to pull out two of my wisdom tooth on the right side of my mouth and do the rest when I finish my Diploma. I really don't want to go through it again..the anesthetic were great, I didn't feel any pain during the operation at all, even when they hammered my teeth, cut my gums and sewed it back together. Yeah, scary shit but my eyes were covered the whole time by a cloth which only had a hole for my mouth during the surgery so I couldn't see anything, I could only hear what was happening. The horrible experience was only 5 hours after the whole ordeal, after the anesthetic wore off..the agony I tell you! Thankfully the painkillers they gave me was enough to get me through it. Now I have to face the complications of eating on the left side of the mouth and having a swollen man-jaw.
I hope this doesn't last long because I look like Gollum from Lord of the Rings.
This is my second time going through an operation/surgery, first one was removing my eye cyst. I really don't like going to clinics or hospitals. I know more people has been through worst than me but this just motivates me more to lead a better lifestyle. I've been spiraling down to my old ways these few weeks/months so I guess this could be my reminder to be better in terms of healthy eating and living even though the removal of wisdom teeth is a common thing and not a health concern.
On another note, both dentist told be I had beautiful teeth! I must have been doing something right all along because prior to this whole experience, I haven't seen a dentist in years!
Top right tooth, it has three "pokok" as the nurse tells me. They mean the roots.
